Alexandria Egypt
June 2008 I attended with 14 other artists the Bibliotheca Alexandrina wood sculpture symposium.
This was a fantastic event, very well organized, with very generous and hospitable hosts. The wood used was a local wood called Sarousa (fantastic) My piece stands 1.8m high. All of the works made during the symposium are now the property of the library.
The New Library of Alexandria, the New Bibliotheca Alexandrina is much more than a library. It contains:
- Six specialized libraries
- Three Museums
- Planetarium
- Seven academic research centers:
- Four art galleries for temporary exhibitions
- Nine permanent exhibitions
- Conference Center
